Update: March 19, 2020

What a difference a few days make. As things have progressed over the last week or so, we've seen first hand the tremendous impact the coronavirus is having on this nation, and within our own community. From shifting to remote workforces to furloughs and layoffs, and panic-buying at the stores, it seems like everyone is affected in some way by Covid-19. In times of trouble, like these, the most important thing we can do for ourselves is to watch out for the people around us and our communities, because if we're going to get through this, we're going to have to all do it together.

To that end, we'd like to make it a little easier for folks who may have been negatively impacted to take advantage of our services, though the moratorium on housecalls/on-site services remains in effect for the foreseeable future. We know that people are facing a lot of challenges, especially financial hardships, as a result of the pandemic - so we've got a few things we can do, in the name of the greater good, to limit that burden for our clients.

1. For anyone experiencing a financial hardship due to loss of hours or partial furloughs, we would like to extend an offer to defer billing for computer services through the month of May. This deferred billing may be extended if we deem it necessary. What this means is that if you need computer service today, but can't afford to pay for it right now because of financial challenges, we will happily date your labor invoice with a due date of June 1st and no monies will be due until at least that time. We can extend that even further on a case-by-case basis, or for everyone if we ultimately deem it necessary. You'll only need to pay for parts, if any are needed, at the time of service.

2. For those who may have suffered a layoff or complete furlough, we understand that you're in a particularly difficult spot right now. Maybe you need your computer fixed to search for other employment opportunities, or maybe you just need it working so that you can have some entertainment while self-isolating! Either way, for those who have a documented total furlough or layoff, I'll offer up to two hours of labor for FREE to get your computer working and help you get back on track. Most of our jobs take only 1.5-2 labor hours, so for most scenarios, that means you won't get a bill at all unless your computer needs parts.

3. For those who perhaps do not have a computer at all, but need one for any of the above reasons, we can make a couple desktop computers available for our clients to borrow without any charge. We'll treat this like a library, and loan you a computer, monitor, keyboard and mouse for up to two weeks (with renewals available as long as nobody else is waiting for one) so that you can search for jobs, pay bills online, just watch Netflix, or do whatever else you might need to do to get through this pandemic! All you'll need to supply is your own Internet connection.

If you've been impacted and want to take advantage of any of these offerings, or if there's anything else we can do to help you get through this, just get in touch with me and we'll work out the details. We're committed to putting the needs of our community and neighbors first. We'll all get through this. Together.
